Moms' Care Group

I was always busy, working full time and having 5 young children. I wanted to have everything perfect for them but more I tried, more I felt I was failing. All of our children were having some kind of problem.  Especially our oldest, who is now 13 years old, was having a very difficult time coping with change he was going through and not having enough attention from me. I asked God to help me and talked to Meiko Nakano, my neighbor.  She introduced me to her daughter Kumi's Care Group.

Since I started attending the group, I feel my life is much easier. I learned to see the other side of our children...the positive side...and also to forgive myself. We became more involved with our local church, since April, 2006. We are a better and happier family.

I really enjoy talking to Kumi because she has 3 children who are in the same age group as ours. I would like to invite more mothers so that God can give us wisdom & strength...also we can help each other to raise our children God's way.  I really appreciate the group and hope that our group will grow deeper and help others more.

I have been in Kumi's Mothers' Care Group for about 3 years now, and I have learned many things from Kumi which I may not have learned outside her care group.  As a mother of a very energetic little boy, I used to find myself physically and emotionally exhausted, but through Kumi's teaching and fellowship with other mothers, many times, I felt refreshed and encouraged.  I am very fortunate to be included in this care group.

I have continuously been in a care group for over 11 years now, since HCC started emphasizing the importance of a small group.  I started as an attendee, and later became Judy Higa's apprentice, then our group multiplied and then I started leading.  Before being in a small group, I knew Christ, walked with him, and have seen my share of miracles, but really never grew that much in my walk with Him. I was not experiencing all that I could experience in my Christian life, not really knowing how deep and strong my relationship with Him and with others could be.

Participating in a small group, I got to participate in a mini church, seeing the Body work together, up close and personal. I have witnessed first hand, how the Body of Christ really works.  You probably can't see this in a one hour church service setting.  You have to be involved with the Body of Christ, in intimate relationships (which can take some time, but worth it) to really experience "church" as the Acts church did in the New Testament.  I have actually seen miracle healing, impossible relationships restored, first hand experience of a transformed life through salvation, and Spiritual Gifts actually at work through the Holy Spirit.

My walk with the Lord has grown so much deeper. I have also received healing as I have learned to let go of my past hurts because these women loved and accepted me, more than mere friendships.  We eat together, share our lives, cry together, pray for each other, help each other during times of need.  It is a true family setting. Even though I am the leader of the group, I am really the one learning the most, the one being encouraged by the group, empowered by the Holy Spirit.  I encourage you to try it out, get involved and see what God can do in your life.
